Trainings in practical skills of press journalism, radio and TV for lecturers from Kyiv, Simferopol and Uzhgorod brought together over 20 participants who had a chance to get acquainted with novel trends in the work of news services and modern methods of working on stories. This took 2 weeks for press and radio and 3 weeks for television.

The press group was coached by an IREX trainer, Oleh Khomenok, while media expert of "ZHORNA" Andriy Kulykov worked with the radio group. Practical skills needed for TV were revealed by another "ZHORNA" expert, Russell Peasgood, and a trainer from Macedonia, Sasha Zaykov.

Using the practical skills they acquired, the Kyiv seminars participants produced journalist materials that became the trainings' results: a newspaper layout on four pages, complete with stories and photos; a radio programme of ten minutes' duration; and three TV packages. 

The trainings were overseen by the "ZHORNA" Project team leader, Tony Howson, while equipment and software for the trainings were hired by the project.
