Media professionals from 10 editorial outlets attended a workshop, organised by ZHORNA Project for those who work with students and newcomers.

The workshop lasted for 5 days and involved media professionals from Kyiv, Simferopol and Uzhgorod, as well as students and lecturers from the Kyiv Institute of Journalism who told editors and other journalists what they expected from work experience in media.

Experienced trainers, Dr Elizabeth Robson, founder of the BBC Ukrainian Service and then Head of BBC Russian Service, and Serhiy Tomilenko, editor-in-chief of "Nova Doba" newspaper (Cherkasy), presented novel methods of working with students and newcomers and fast-tracking them to real involvement in day-to-day work of media outlets.

The workshop's added value will be in passing on the skills of training trainers: those who attend the workshop received knowledge and skills allowing them to train their colleagues.
